Sun takes approximately 1 month to travel from one zodiac sign to another.That is why sun sign is same for all the people born during the same month.However moon takes approximately 2 and half days to change sign, so calculation of moon sign involves knowing the birth star and some astrological calculation based on date and time of birth.Moon sign is specific to a day and time.
From a lay man’s view, the zodiac sign occupied by sun becomes the sun sign, and the zodiac sign occupied by moon becomes our moon sign.
Sun sign defines the fundamental tone of our being, in other words, the way we portray our-self to the world around us.While moon is the inner life that only the near and dear ones knows.
To conclude, sun and moon equals to mother and father who define an individual to a greater extent.
